I lost my original remote key for my car and it did not have a spare. So I called in the mechanic who took the ECU key-free and the ECU immobilizer for programming and made a key to turn the ignition. Despite the key turning the ignition the car cranks but will not start and the security light still blinks. How can I get the car to start or what could be the problem? It has been four months since with occasional programming to try to get it to start.

Hello,

Thee is no ECU free key. All keys have an RF chip in them that is specific to the car. The security light is telling you this. You will need to get the car reprogrammed which will cost about $130.00 at the dealer or shop. Do you have the original key? If so I have seen people dig the chip out of the key and glue it to the new one.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken
