Hello,

I was on the road and when I stopped at a stop sign I pressed the gas but car barely moved with no acceleration and after pressing the gas pedal for a while it suddenly accelerated and there was no issue at higher speeds. Only when I came to a full stop the car was not accelerating.

Check engine light is not on.
Next day the problem went away and car was running fine. But again the issue came back and I noticed that when I come to a full stop, if I shut down the engine and start the car again, the car runs fine without any problem. I just need to turn the engine off and turn it on again.

Any comment is appreciated as I have no idea what is going on, since the check engine light is not on?

So when you press on the gas pedal, having this issue, does the car just stay at an idle? nothing else happens at all?

If that is the case, it sounds like the Throttle position sensor might have an intermittent problem. This car actually has two TPS sensors integrated into the Throttle Body along with a motor to control the throttle plate movements. It is an electronic system, where as the TPS sends a signal to the ECM and the ECM moves the throttle plates via the motor. It looks like its all built into the throttle body itself. So let us know about the first two questions I asked so we can rule out other possibilities.

One other question, does the tachometer (rise in rpm's) move when you push on the gas pedal?

Thanks a lot.
Actually, the rpm also does not move when I press the gas pedal. I have to show down the engine and restart the car to fix the problem.

well with no codes to go by its abit difficult and I don't want to guess at your problem, But I am reading here that there is also a Pedal Position Sensor on top of the gas pedal itself. So you may want to check down at the Pedal and see if there is any loose connections at this sensor also. Seems there are a couple throttle position sensors for this system.

The 2 Throttle position sensors built into the throttle body monitor the motor that moves the throttle plates and the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APP) Tell the ECM how much to open the throttle plates using the motor in the throttle body.
SO it seems the APP sensor is more likely the problem here.
