Will not start after alarm came on

My alarm came on, i finely got it off and now my car will not start. the lights come on just will not say a thing. please tell me the problem.

When you say the engine will not start do you mean it will not crank over (starter) or it cranks over but will not start? Also, was the security light flashing or still is flashing?
