I am having an issue trying to shift out of park. I did some research and it said to make sure the brake lights come on. They do not. I am not sure what the issue could be. Someone please help.

Check the brake fuse and if that is okay. check that power is going into the switch and out the other side with the pedal pressed. can you do this? the switch is located at the top of the brake pedal under the dash.

is the power going through the switch with the pedal down and is the switch actually switching? it may be out of adjustment as well. if the power is gong through the switch we need to look further. The best way to test the circuit, is to remove the plug from the switch and bridge out with a small wire clop like a paper clip or a small split pin. if the brake lights come on and the shifter works, the switch is at fault. check this with the ignition on so you have power at the switch.
