Where is the starter located?

I can't seem to find the starter on this particular 2001 year.

Yep, it is buried under the engine intake manifold near the right-side lower bell housing of the transmission. Here is a diagram showing you what I am talking about. Make sure to disconnect the battery first. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.

Being the 3.0 you are really driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse in Chrysler clothing. The starter on them is bolted to the transmission bellhousing tucked in tight to the engine block behind the intake manifold. It's held on with three bolts and is easier to access from underneath.
