When changing from first to second and/or third gear, it does not line up properly. Cannot get into gear. Thinking the selector plate is the problem. What do you think?

I cannot find information on your car.

Generically speaking, Maybe your clutch linkage is not adjusted/or if you have a hydraulic clutch, maybe it needs to be bled.

This "guess" would account for maybe the pressure plate/or clutch cover not fully disengaging resulting in grinding as the gears are not able to synchronize.

This may help too (link below), There is more information in "repair guides" at the top right side of our pages.

Let us know how it goes,

Good morning my name is Roy and I will assist as well.

Adding to CJ comments, you have a hydraulic clutch. This means you have fluid that operates the system. You need to check the level under the hood.
When the engine is not running, can you shift gears ok? If you can it means there is either clutch issue or a hydraulic issue with the application of the clutch. Does the pedal feel different from before when it worked correctly??
