When I accelerate to but speed, for example merging onto the motor way or even after changing gear. There’s also a knowing sound. I’ve Googled it and all the symptoms point to an oil issue.

Hello,

No. Having low oil will not cause your engine to over rev, but it can do catastrophic damage to your engine's bearings. The bearings in your vehicle's engine depend on a thin film of oil to lubricate the rotating parts against wear. The easiest way to check the oil level in your vehicle is to pull the engine oil dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert into the dipstick tube all the way, pull it out again and check the level of the oil. Please get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex
