Transmission does not work in drive

I was driving on the highway and when I stopped at the red light it was find but by the time it turned green I was pushing a gas and it did not go anywhere in D. But when I put it in R it works fine with no problem. Also, second and third also worked. so my drive went out so I had to ride home in third which was like a half mile from where it was messing up at. Car is supercharged.
