The steering gear has leaked since I got the car so just drove without power steering. But now the power steering pump has locked up. can I some how by pass the power steering and just run the air conditioning the water pump and alternator until I can get the new steering gear in and power steering pump in it?

Hi,

I'm not sure which engine you have, so belt orientation may be different. If the vehicle has the 2.0L, the power steering belt is independent. Take a look at pic 1 and let me know if that is what you have.

If it is and you have been driving without fluid in the pump, removing the belt isn't going to damage anything more than may have already been done.

Let me know if this is the correct engine.
