camshaft timing/chain timing

Hello,

Usually the timing mark are on wheels on the end of the camshaft and crankshaft called sprockets. The sprockets will have marks on it that must be positioned each to the other(every manufacturer does this differently) and then either a timing chain or timing belt installed. This is done to match the crankshaft, which the pistons are attached to and the camshaft(s) which control the opening and closing of the valves in sync with each other. Unfortunately we do not a listing for a 2001 Mercedes Benz C200 in either of our data bases, so I can not offer you the correct timing procedure for your vehicle. I found these diagrams for a 230 which I believe are very similar, I think you can use these marks and instructions to get the job done. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Please note in my initial and previous question i mistakenly indicated 30,000 mileage. the correct mileage is 300,000.
