Hello,
Usually the timing mark are on wheels on the end of the camshaft and crankshaft called sprockets. The sprockets will have marks on it that must be positioned each to the other(every manufacturer does this differently) and then either a timing chain or timing belt installed. This is done to match the crankshaft, which the pistons are attached to and the camshaft(s) which control the opening and closing of the valves in sync with each other. Unfortunately we do not a listing for a 2001 Mercedes Benz C200 in either of our data bases, so I can not offer you the correct timing procedure for your vehicle. If you should have any other vehicle related questions, please, feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Alex
