Hey. I'm throwing at P0340 error, Camshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit (Bank 1).

None of the information I have found seems to be for the vehicle listed above (Police Interceptor Utility) v6 3.7l. Does anybody have advice or a diagram of where to look so I can replace it to see if it resolves my issue?

Thanks!

Never mind. I found it myself. I had to look at the Ford Taurus since they both use similar engines. Everything on the internet kept saying Circuit A Bank 1 was located on the passenger side of the vehicle, which was obviously wrong. All 4 sensors are located on the driver side underneath the air intake hose.

This is a picture I found on another forum but here's where they're located for anybody down the road that is looking for them.

Going from left to right, Bank 2 is on the left side of the picture, Circuit B then A. Bank 1 is on the right, Circuit A then B.

What I don't understand is in the other picture I attached, what could cause the sensor to be as damaged as that is. Does concern me that there's an underlying issue and worry now there's debris in the camshaft area.

Good job finding the location. I would get a mirror on a stick and use a flashlight to inspect the reluctor wheel on the end of the camshaft, have someone turn the engine over by hand from the front balancer and a breaker bar. It could be the sensor just fatigued and broke. Please let us know what you find.
