I recently got a check engine light and scanned my car. The code was p0022. Camshaft position sensor bank 2 needs to be replaced. I'm new to working on cars and wanted help with doing this swap myself. The BMW guide says that I have 4 on my 2016 BMW 750i xdrive but I don't know where either of the 4 are located. I do know 2 for intake and 2 for exhaust.

Hello,

The code P0022 is the intake camshaft timing for bank 2 which is on the driver's side of the engine is more retarded than it should be. I would check the oil first because that could cause an issue as well. It is not a circuit error it is an operational error which is caused by a clogged or malfunctioning camshaft position control valve for bank two. Here is the valve location so you can remove it and check the screen to see if there are metal shavings clogging the oil control ports.

Here is the sensor location and how to replace it for your own knowledge:

Is this an Euro car? If so this is the US version and will be the same or close to the same. Did you run into a problem?
