Yes, you must remove the camshafts to remove the cylinder head. Here is the tightening sequence for the camshafts and cylinder head. Sorry for the slow response, we have been slammed with work. Be careful not to over tighten the camshaft caps.
Apply Mopar Gasket Maker to No. 1 and No. 6 bearing caps (Fig. 43). Install bearing caps and tighten M8 fasteners to 28 Nm (250-inch lbs.).
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in (Fig. 33). Using the 4-step torque-turn method, tighten according to the following values:
- First: All to .................... 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
- Second: All to .................... 82 Nm (60 ft. lbs.)
- Third: All to .................... 82 Nm (60 ft. lbs.)
