Camshaft sensor, cranks will not start

3.5 engine. It was just shutting off while driving, diagnostic test said camshaft sensor. We replaced can shaft sensor, we drove it home, the next morning it will turn over, but will not fire.

Good morning.

What was the exact code? Codes rarely identify bad parts, just failed systems.

Once I know the code, I can check the flow chart for you to follow for the failure.

Do you have a code reader that gave you that code? I rechecked and see no 394.

That is what code was on code reader from garage.

They must have told you the wrong number. There are about ten cam sensor codes and none of them are in the 390 range.

Please ask them to re check.

He is going to hose and re check it. It will not crank to bring to garage.

Not a cam sensor. This code is for the crank sensor.

Does the tachometer move up a little while the engine is cranking?

P0337 - Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) Circuit Low Voltage

KIA Motors does not provide testing procedures for this DTC.

The crankshaft position sensor is a Hall-effect sensor that senses the crank angle (piston position) of each cylinder and converts it into a pulse signal. Based on the input signal, the ECU computes the engine speed and controls the fuel injection timing and ignition timing.

I would not assume it needs to be replaced. I would have it checked first. It could be wiring or even a timing belt issue. I would have it properly diagnosed before replacing any parts.
