Camshaft lobe lube?

In your video series on how to build a 302, you mentioned putting thick, dark grey assembly lube on the lobes of the camshaft. Is this necessary for a roller cam as well? Or just flat tappet? I have lube for the bearings.

It is not as necessary on roller camshafts but I would put it on there anyway because the roller still needs to "mate" to the camshaft. Thanks for asking!

I have another question. I am getting ready to give my block a wash within the week after it gets back from the machine shop. Can I use dawn dish soap? And if I don’t have an air compressor, what are my options on drying it off?

Yep, you can use dawn dish soap. You need compressed air to blow the water off of the block so you can coat it down with WD40 to help stop rust. This is a must, here is an air compressor for ya for $142.00

Thank you. I also found a 3 gallon 110 psi at harbor freight for 57$. Would that work or is there a specific psi requirement?

Nope, you are good. As long as you get the water off of the block you should be good to go, enjoy the engine build!!
