Cam index after head gasket

2.2ecotec swapped head gasket on daughters car because of a broken timing guide (heads fine did not bend any valves) had her boyfriend "helping" caught him spinning cams with a ratchet. My question is can I just index them normal or do I need to do something different when I put the timing back together? I am thinking its okay, but I know what is likely to happen if I am wrong. Thanks

if the engine was at tdc when this was done then the valves WILL hit the pistons.if not then try to set it up, if sprocket bolts were removed they should be replaced.

Yeah the head was on my cleaning cart at the time I figured I could just put it on the car indexed and be OK just wanted a second opinion and we got a complete chain kit bolts included thanks for the reply

You should flip the head over and pour some light oil in the combustion chambers to see if any of the valves got bent while it was on the bench.
