When I put my car in gear from park to drive it make a loud clunking sound .

Have the front support bushing in the rear differential checked for splitting.

My Cadillac has 55k miles and it has this same clunk when I put the car into drive...Just curious if you found out what it was...

Never recieved closure on the post, my recommendation would be the same. Check the front support bushing of the rear differential. If it is a V8, check also the left engine mount.
