2005 Cadillac STS 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi. I have a 2001 Corvette and can access the trouble codes via dashboard buttons.
How can I access the trouble codes on my 2005 Cadillac? Do I have to buy a scanner or can I press a button on the dash. Thanks. Dan

The problem I am having is that some times when I fill up at the gas station my service engine soon light comes on. It will go out eventually after a few trips.

Cadillac no longer has on-board accessible diagnostics, it went out in about 2004 on the STS. You would need a scanner that is CAN compliant. It is hard to say what is causing the light to come on after filling, if it is going back out I doubt it is a leaking fuel cap. Is it being topped off excessively?
