2001 Cadillac STS trunk release

I came out from the store and my trunk was open in the praking lot. Is this common? Do I need to have a new sensor?

Was the keyless transmitter button pressed, this could have perhaps happened without your knowledge. I would see if it happens again. There is also a valet switch in the glove box to disable it, I believe it also disables keyless release.
