2000 Cadillac STS theft system

The message service theft system stays on in the message center on the dash it use to go off if the key was in wrong and you turned the position of the key now it just stays on. I was told that the car would turn off and not turn back on if not serviced by caddilac. Is that true?

The message is telling you that the Passlock system has a malfunction. No one knows what that malfunction is or whether it will eventually lock you out until they get to the bottom of the problem and that requires the use of a Tech2 scan tool and very few shops beside the dealer have that particular equipment.
