1999 Cadillac STS V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I"m looking at a 1999 STS,but the guy is telling me it's been overheating. He claims it runs and drives. I was just wondering,in your opinion how much it might cost to fix.I can get the car for 1500.00. Is it worth it? The car is pretty nice cosmetically.
