1998 Cadillac SRX - STS Fuel/Mileage

I just got this car and I'm only getting 13.4 avg miles per gallon. I know something is wrong but I just don't know what. Could you point me in the right direction?

See if there are any codes in the computer. Off and warmer on the heater controls or off and down on the mode button, with the key in the on position

Look at previous quote, through the heater controls
