Air Conditioning problem
1997 Cadillac STS V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
i was told by the dealership that my car was leaking freon from somewhere under my dash and that it would be at least an 8 hour job to repair plus parts. Could this be the case because everything appears to be under the hood any help would be great. they have already leak tested it and can't find where they cut a hole in the top of the heater box in the engine compartment to put what they called their sniffer into and that is when they told me about the dash.

well your ac evaporator core is under your dash along with the two hoses that connects it. they may be right, but I'll tell ya if your car is not under warranty and you have to pay out of your pocket, I would go to a regular reputable shop, midas, meineke, firestone, someplace like that, also don't be afraid to get a second opinion, a lot of places have free a/c checks.

you are right everything is under the hood, the evaporator is your problem, you do have to cut it out to repair it, and 8 hrs later you have air

if it doesnt leak out fast just recharge it and see how long it last
