Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Cadillac SRX - STS V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 70,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My oil pan is leaking with a slow drip and a mechanic said that a gaskett needs to be replaced. What is the easiest and cheapest way for me to do this.

first you can try tightening the bolts, dont tighten them too much or you will snap them off.

if that doesnt help your going to have to have the oil pan dropped and cleaned and a new gasket put on..

it doesnt have a gasket it has or uses a sealant, tightening wont help. there are 2 parts to the oil pan, the oil pan itself and the lower crank assy

parts at the dealer cost about 400.00 bucks and labor is 12 to 14 hrs, about 1500.00 bucks in all
