2005 Cadillac SRX Car Transmission

I have a 2005 SRX from Cadillac. When I shift to put in on drive, it makes a loud noise and seems like the whole car jerks. Could this be a transmission problem?

It could be a trans problem, hard to say without knowing more about the loud noise. If it is an all wheel drive, it could be transfer case related as well. Other than initial engagement, does it drive normal?
