I saw the question posted about how to fix or replace the transfer case. But what I would like to know is this a typical problem with the 2004 Cadillac SRX, because I have had the car looked at by a Mechanic and he said he is unable to verify that this is the problem with out fully disassembling the transfer case. And several other reliable mechanics said they have never heard or seen this happening to my particular car.

Personally have not seen any faults with the transfer case itself, and don't recall the post that your referring to. What is the nature of your problem?

It makes a loud racheting noise when accelerateing from a stop. It sounds like something is being stripped maybe a gear.
