Smells problem
1999 Cadillac SLS V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i have noticed my exhaust is kind of thick, when it hasn't been very cold out i can still see the smoke coming out, when i started it inside a shop, the smell was very strong when only ran for a minute. always change oil on schedule, wondering what all it could be!

A smell strong of fuel? Does it run a bit rough at start, or seem to have an extended crank? It could have a leaking fuel pressure regulator, pull the vacuum hose off of the regulator and check for presence of liquid. You can also check your fuel trim values(with use of scan tool), and those could indicate a problem that may not be severe enough to trigger a fault code. Otherwise check the fluid levels, and as long as there is no check engine light, it is safe to say you don't have a concern.
