My 2000 STS has the FE3 "road sensing" suspension with 108000 mi. Replacement Struts are $700 each - is there a lower cost replacement or can the SLS non adjustable struts be installed & if so, do any electronic components need to be removed or deactivated? The car is pristine & I have owned it since new and really want to go to 200,000 miles - but the cost to rebuild the suspension with original equipment replacement parts is prohibitive. What are my best alternatives?

I have never installed non adjustable struts in place of the sensing struts.

Try having the cores rebuilt it may save you some money, or try a junk yard.

I wouldnt mess around with installing the non adjustables as you will probably run into more problems down the road.
