the tramission fluid was bone dry so i refilled it and when i went to drive it, it clunked really hard into gear and the fluid started leaking very heaveily

The clunk could be the result of commanded maximum line pressure, but the real concern to focus on is where is it leaking. First opinion would be that you have a failed cooler line, identify the leak before addressing the clunk.
