i try to start my car and the dash screen tells me that the starting is disabled due to anti theft system, remove key wait 3 minutes

I would guess it is the common lock cylinder fault. Wires broken up at the cylinder in the column. It can be verified by checking resistance at the connector at the base of the column. I believe in 89, it had it's own harness connector. Two small white wires in an orange conduit, black connector body.
