1979 Cadillac Seville Two Wheel Drive Automatic 63000 miles

last week my recently bought cadillac start having"startproblems.
When I start the engine it turns verry slowly for a second ore so, then piks up and turns faster and then runs.
After driving a bit yesterday the engine stopped sudently and the battery whent dead.
Whats the problem.

Possible alternator fault get a jump or charge batt then have alt. Tested

I, ve checked the alternator and think thats no good anymore but now somebody told me it could also be the regulator?
