removing airbag

hi I have a 1994 fleetwood cadillac with automatic transmission, 5.7 eng, 135 mil. I was wondering what do I have to do to remove the steering wheel without airbag going off? thank you

disconnect the battery, I have disconnected the air bag many many times without disconnecting the battery, but you should disconnect it
