What would make the car go from 53 Mile per to 20 miles in just second. The car then cut off. I pulled the car over to the side of the road onto a grassy area and the grass caught on fire. Can you tell me what that could be?

The gas millage could be a lot of things.
But the clue of the grass catching on fire is a big one.

The grass probably caught fire from the catalytic converter being very hot, and possibly even glowing.
That happens when it's trying to get rid of unburned fuel in the exhaust.

So you've got all this fuel going in the engine, but not being burnt.

That makes me suspect a problem with the ignition system.
