Why does it take long for heater to heat up in a 1999 cadillac escalade? What part could I need to replace?

Ensure coolant level is good in radiator. If its good than there may be a partial clog in the coolant system and it needs flushed OR the heater core is failing.

Don't disregard a stuck open, or improperly regulating thermostat.
