Is this a job that my mechanic son can do or does this job require specialized tools? Is this a real tough job or should I take it to cadillac and pay the $3000 est. given to me?

Hi:
I don't know your son's experience so it's hard to say. However, 3000.00 for head gasket replacement is really high. Get other bids and let them know you are only getting bids so they don't over charge you.

If you son is confident he can do it, let him try. Just make sure he has a good manual to follow that you can get at any auto parts store or book store. If he is completely unexperienced, you may what to send it out for repairs.

If your son does it and runs into trouble, he can get in touch with me and I'll try my best to help him via 2carpros.
