The oil light comes on at idle and goes off with accelaration. Engine oil is full. Got a warning one time that oil pressure was low and to shut off the engine. That warning went away after increasing speed. Any idea why this would happen?

Worn engine bearings and worn pump gears. You may do better with a high viscosity oil.

Would you suggest 10/40 or 15/40. I am in North Carolina so cold temperatures are not a problem.

I would go with 15/40 and add some MARVAL MYSTRY OIL you can get at WalMart.
If you get down to Mureals Inlet eat at FLO's for me
