THE CODE SAYS THAT THE GAS CAP IS BAD I REPLACED THE CAP WITH 2 DIFFERNT CAPS . AND DISTUINGUISHED THE ENG LITE WITH A HAND HELD DEVISE THE CK ENG LITE WILL STAY OUT FOR A FEW HUNDRED MILES THEN COME BACK ON

Hi:
The code is most likely identifying an evap code. Yes the cap could be bad, but other thing will cause the same code. Anything that is part of the fuel system that could allow gas fumes to enter the atmosphere will set the code. Check the fuell filler tube or leaks or fumes, all hoses near tank or charcoal canister. Some mechanics will actually place smoke in the system so they can see where the leak is.
