I installed new battery altinator car started ran next day failed to start could the mechanic have lied about putting in the starter. At a charge of $ 300.00

I am confused about what actually was replaced, the battery, alternator, or starter? If the battery is dead, it could have a parasitic drain that is discharging the battery while sitting.
