1997 Cadillac El Dorado V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 88000k miles

Dear 2CarPros

I have a 1997 cadillac el dorado which overheats when the engine starts working hard. Both electric fans have been set to come in at mid range temp. but the car still overheats and thermostat has been checked and is working. Small water leak in the vicinity of the water pump noted.

I would recommend a block test for the presence of combustion gases in the cooling system. More than likely an internal leak from head gasket(s).
