it's been sitting for a while now when i drive it it seems like it does not want to go into overdrive

Hi there,

If the transmission has been sitting for some some time, i would get it serviced & have the line pressures tested as you may have some sticky solenoid valves. this may come good with use but a check over would not hurt and may pick up a more serious problem before it causes you more concern.
