Where is the starter located and how do you replace it?

Assuming it is a 4.9l, it is on front lower portion of engine at transmission joint. Remove the flywheel shield, two bolts hold the starter to block, remove the wires(battery disconnected), and the starter. It may need the exhaust loosened, or Y-pipe removed to remove the starter completely. In some cases, there is also a bracket at the end of the starter for support, it would need removed also.
