1989 Cadillac El Dorado brake line repair

brake line that runs to the rear ruptured due to rust. the bad part of the line was cut out and a new piece added using compression fittings. QUESTION= is it legal and/or safe to fix brake line as described above? (several note on the web say to never use compression fittings due to high pressure in the lines)

Line should be replaced with one piece. Compression fittings will fail.
