2001 Cadillac DTS tcc sensor

my 2001 dts won't pass inspection because the code p0841(tcc solenoid circuit sensor) comes up. i can't afford to have it fixed by the dealer (about 2500). do i have to remove the tranny to do it or can i access it while the tranny is in...if so, how do i do it?

As difficult as it seems, pulling the trans is the easiest method. It is possible to lower the side enough to get the pan out, but that is somewhat a difficult process, and the risk for potential damage is greater.
