It could be a number of things but first i'd check condition of spark plugs, rotor asnd dist cap, wires also if that checks out then you need to gert in to the sensers and do some checking, coolant temp senser for one (not temp gauge sending unit) also check mass air flow valve some have a temp senser in it to measure air temp, idle air control valve could be problem as well check cranking voltage also and amperage draw on starter could be cause as well starter could be robbing voltage from igniton system so engine will not start.
