I have had three quotes from dealers stating they must remove the engine to repair the head gasket. I have a mechanic (self employd) that wants to do the job for me that states he has done this before w/o removing the engine. Can you give me some idea what all is involved in a head gasket repair on this car? Thanls!

Heads can be done with engine in . Does Dealer suspect cylinder or crankshaft damage?

No. They don't suspect any other damage. The vehicle still needs to be inspected. But it runs and drives, just blows steam right now.
Thanks for your reply.
