2001 Cadillac Deville Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

I have a small oil leak, and a shop I took the car to said the oil pan gasket needs replacing. They quoted me a price of almost $1000.00. They say the have to pull the transmission to get to the oil pan. Is that true? Should this repair cost this much?

if its a small leak leave it alone, are you using oil or something?

but yes the trans has to come out to repair, its a 1500.00 dollars at a dealership
