2001 Cadillac Deville clicking noise

we were told that it is a piston by the cadillac dealer but he also said to just drive it ,it wouldnt hurt wanting to know if this is true or will cause more problems

Hi there,

If the piston has a crack in the skirt (side of the piston) this is not a huge problem, some ford V8 here in Aus had this problem from the factory, the only thing that you would worry about is of the crack developed and caused a failure, if it was my car i would be repairing it, but as this is not a cheap option, you may wish to drive it and hope that it wont cause a problem down the road.
