The piston on a front caliper can be pressed in with a c-clamp or large pliers. It can be made easier by opeining the bleeder screw during pressing. A rear caliper piston needs to be screwed in while applying pressure to it. It can be a bit more of a challenge.

Front caliper pistons you would use a C clamp like any other caliper. But the rear ones there is a special tool and it turns them in.
