Electrical problem
1998 Cadillac Deville V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic
over the past year this cadillac has had 3 alternators replaced. I feel there is an electrical problem but were do I start looking

Is the battery going dead? If so, have you checked for an electrical draw? Are you purchasing remanufactured alts? Have you tried a different brand of alt?

Yes I have one thing this car has a system installed 2 1600 watt amps two 15" wolfers. I tried to find a capacitor for the sysytem but had no luck do you think that can be an issue also ahen I checked the alt I found the plug had been cut and the p terminal wire is missing only the f terminal is there. It is a 5 wire plug with only two wires I am trying to find a schematic for it

I have 02 deville, what I believe is my problem, and maybe yours, alternator goes bad after volt regulator stops working because it's controlled by the Pcm. My alternator is new and it's pushing out 15v boiling my battery. Volt regulator fail. Pcm

Thanks Virgil for the info. Unfortunately, it looks like this original post was almost 10 years ago but this is good info. These post (obviously) stay up so that info will help others with this issue.
